Logo Lockup for Mountain View Hotel

The inspiration and idea behind creating a logo for the Mountain View Hotel comes from wanting to capture an element that is specific to that of the area that the Mountain View Hotel is in, which is the Swiss Alps in Switzerland.

A Sketch Idea for What the logo Could Have Become

Being a luxury 5 star mountain resort in an area with such rich history, I aimed to create something sophisticated, yet eye-catchingly simple. Something that called back to royals who used to live in castles, but also something that can relate to the present day.

As I researched different topics and aspects of the Swiss Alps, I came across the Edelweiss flower, which grows on the rocky limestone locations of the Swiss Alps. The star like and geometrical shape was perfect for what I believed represented not only the Mountain View Hotel, but also paid homage to a well known icon of the area.

In order to create the logo based on the inspiration of the Edelweiss flower, my goal was to strip down the design and look of the real flower in order to end up at the final shape and design of the logo. â€‹â€‹

As the final idea became to come into fruition, here are a few of the many possible ideas I had as well as an idea of a blue and white layered glacier icon.

I took the Mountain View Hotel's competitors into consideration as well when creating the logo for the Mountain View Hotel. The competition had an air of simplicity, but high class. By creating an intricate and interwoven icon, I was able to show that the Mountain View Hotel is able to standout from it's competition. â€‹â€‹

Not only was the icon made with the intention to delineate from others in the hotel market, but the colors where chosen with intent as well. The Mountain View Hotel is secluded in the nature of the Swiss Alps. It is a place where someone can get away from the busyness of their life and rest. The Mountain View Hotel has expressed that their visitors can trust that the employees of the Mountain View Hotel will take care of them during their stay, confidently ensuring that they will have a high quality and refreshing stay. I choose dark green to represent all that the Mountain View Hotel promises to provide.

I choose the gold color because the Mountain View Hotel assures it's visitors of a warm and Opulent experience, not just from the views of nature, but also from the hotel's staff and employees. I know that gold makes for the best representation of these ideals. In the end, these color choices became part of  Mountain View Hotel's brand color palette.
